So if you are a fan of buddy crime flicks like the Ocean’s series or if you like cool magic tricks then I think you will like this. I would not say this was a blockbuster only pulling in a little over 117 million but it had some decent star power with Morgan Freeman and Woody Harellson to add that seasoned actor vibe. Over the last few years I have enjoyed Woody’s movies and am very much looking forward to him returning as Haymitch Abernathy in Catching Fire. I was not crazy about Mark Ruffalo prior to this movie but I think I am warming up to his grumpy not really a star vibe. Jesse Eisenberg plays “J. Daniel Atlas” one of the magicians. For me he is one of those actors I don’t actually like but tend to like the movies he gets cast in because there interesting and sometimes relevant. There are some other up an coming actors in this as well. For me I waited till I could pay 1.69 at Redbox but would not have been upset had I paided full price at the theater.

Ok with all these great movies coming out in the next few months which one are you looking forward to the most. For me its a toss up between Superman or Star Trek.

Interview Done By Mike Wilkerson
MW: Please introduce yourself?
AR: Anthony “Chopper” Rinaldo from Canastota, NY…the nickname Chopper has nothing to do with The Walking Dead it’s something people have called me since the age of 4 years old.
MW: How would fans of The Walking Dead TV show on AMC know you?
AR: I’ve been in some memorable “mid ground scenes” I was one of the Walkers that converge onto Rick, Glen & Hershel as they decide what to do with Randall who’s leg is impaled on a fence in episode 2.09 “Triggerfinger” I was shot by Rick as he and Carl fled the burning barn and escaped down the back ladder of the RV. I’m kinda lumbering screen left & Rick shoots me in the head and I go down hard on my back, brains flying one way, feet flying another in the season 2 finale “Beside the…

ABC has some new shows premiering this week that have garnered my interest. The first being “THE NEIGHBORS”
Marty Weaver (Lenny Venito) just wants the best for his wife Debbie (Jami Gertz) and their three kids. That’s why he’s moving them to Hidden Hills, New Jersey, a gated community complete with its own golf course. Marty is certain that their new home will be a dream come true. And then, they meet the neighbors.
The residents of Hidden Hills are a little… different. Larry Bird (Simon Templeman) introduces himself as the “leader” of the community. Then, he presents his wife, Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye) and their two sons (yes, they’re named after famous athletes — Dick Butkus and Reggie Jackson).
After Debbie and Marty frantically try to make sense of the weird neighbors — very European? A cult? Amish athletes? — they discover that the entire Hidden Hills community is comprised of aliens from the planet Zabvron. Turns out the Zabvronians have been holed up in Hidden Hills for the past 10 years, awaiting instructions from back home. And the Weavers are the first humans who have ever lived amongst them.
For me this rings of Third Rock from the Sun which is OK with me as I loved that show.
The Second and maybe more action packed is Last ¤ Resort a very Tom Clancyish tale of US submarine captain and a big decision he needs to make.
500 feet beneath the ocean’s surface, the U.S. ballistic missile submarine Colorado receives their orders. Over a radio channel, designed only to be used if their homeland has been wiped out, they’re told to fire nuclear weapons at Pakistan.
Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) demands confirmation of the orders only to be unceremoniously relieved of duty by the White House. XO Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) finds himself suddenly in charge of the submarine and facing the same difficult decision. When he also refuses to fire without confirmation of the orders, the Colorado is targeted, fired upon, and hit. The submarine and its crew find themselves crippled on the ocean floor, declared rogue enemies of their own country. Now, with nowhere left to turn, Chaplin and Kendal take the sub on the run and bring the men and women of the Colorado to an exotic island. Here they will find refuge, romance and a chance at a new life, even as they try to clear their names and get home.

“Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down, the lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? Written by NBC Publicity.
After watching the pilot on Hulu+ last week I found myself drawn into the why that is typical of most projects Abrams is involved with. It is almost formulaic how this TV show gives you bits and pieces to keep you watching. When it was over I found myself wanting another episode. This could be what I call the Netflix effect where we as viewers are able to binge on the shows we like watching several hours at a time. Ok enough soap boxing.
I found the story very engaging but some of the characters hard to care about. For instance Danny played by Graham Rogers. He is the asthmatic brother that gets kidnapped and is basically the drive of the whole show currently. At this point I am thinking that he needs to get killed off or rescued to explore a more exciting story arc. He is just not that strong of an actor nor character.
The premise of the show is interesting , we lose electricity and forced to live like farmers and rebuild society. There were a couple of things commented on the internet I found worth mentioning.
Where are all the bicycles?
Why when the planes lost power and crashed were the tail lights still on?
What about steam power?
If you can get past these small blips on the suspension of reality radar I highly recommend this show. It has enough sex appeal that it might actually make it a season or two and some degree of intelligence to hold the science fiction crowd. Let’s hope the Nielsen Families tune in Monday….I know I will.
